Only in Hawaii would you have time to lie on the beach and think of a quick easy way to COLLABORATE! How cool is this tool! Teachers and students like could use it for mathematics, science, social studies and language arts for building vocabulary. When new words are added, reader becomes the editor to add new information,provide examples and give elaboration of a definition or give examples to simplify. Before using the Wikis,teachers need to model appropriate use of the tool. Students need to see that we are using these technoloogical tools in our classrooms. Our teacher's tool box is growing daily!

#2 Weblogs...alias "Blogs" on my mind!

After reading Richardson's chapters Read/Write Web and Weblogs, you realize how our world is changing and becoming challenging for educators. This challenge is a good one though....opening new doors for online publishing for a broader audience including our students. Weblogging provides an easy, extensive social network for reading,writing, and publishing opportunities for your students. The opportunity to begin conversations with teachers and students enabling editing and publishing tools to have discussions. This Web 2.0 tool has educators brainstorming, planning, and assessing how we communicate, what ways we deliver this tool to our students and what are our expectations of them with their usage. Now we are all: Readers--Writers--Publishers--Editors--Collaborators! The advantages outweigh the disadvantages to this reading and writing tools. As educators, we need to take advantage of the technological tools which provide opportunities, model for your students the correct usage of the tool, students need to see us use the tool correctly and protect the privacy of our users. As the author reflected in his chapter, a parental approval for publishing is recommended and he shared an example. Have fun publishing but be secretive with personal information disclosure.
As I learn more about this web tool, I intend to use some opportunities like book talks and responses with authors, curriculum discussions with my students within the classroom language arts centers. What a great way to reflect on science observations (crickets, ladybugs or butterflies) with peers and teachers. If you have other ideas, please share.

# 1 New Experience of Blogging

This is my first blogging experience! I would not be sitting at my computer unless I had to blog for the ITS program. As usual, it's a little foreign to me and exciting too. I hope that I am able to share my ideas and thoughts.
